Reunion Committee News

Our 30th reunion is next year...

The reunion committee puts a lot of time and energy into each of our reunions, and seeing everyone enjoy themselves makes it all worthwhile. The planning begins long before the actual event and a lot of thought goes into each one, from choosing a date and location to deciding on the food and music. We've been fortunate to have 'core group' since our 10 year reunion, however, if you attended the last reunion, you know that Stacey 'retired' and passed the baton on to me. We've had a few others move, so our committee is much smaller...that means WE NEED YOU!!

We also need some input...we need to know what you all want out of this reunion. What date works for the majority? Where would you like to have it...what type of setting? Casual or formal? Do we want a meal or just munchies? Do we want another booklet? What type of activities, if any, would you like? Again...WE NEED YOU!!

Please email me with your thoughts. If you're interested in helping out, let me know that, too. Our class email address is FHSClassof77@aol.com and I check it often. If your email address has changed since our last reunion, let me know!

Looking forward to seeing you all...

25 Year Reunion Recap
Our 25 year class reunion is now a part of history, and sorry to say, you missed a great time! The weather couldn't have been more perfect, the food was excellent, and over 100 classmates and spouses enjoyed an evening of catching up and reminiscing.

The weekend activities started with a tubing trip from Bridgeton to Maple Island. It was a small group, but what a relaxing way to spend a Friday afternoon! Saturday morning's tour of the High School was a success, and gave many of our classmates and their families a chance to see the changes firsthand. Joan (Shue) Smalligan and her daughter led the group through the halls of our Alma Mater (thanks, ladies!!), and enjoyed listening to all of the memories being shared. Although the Golf Outing on Saturday afternoon also had a small turn-out, it was a great 'ice-breaker' for those that were there.

The evening event kicked off at 5:30 with a Happy Hour. The committee had such a good time welcoming each of our classmates! Nametags were pre-printed for all who had sent in an RSVP...some were recognized right away, while others had us asking each other "Do you know who that is?" What a difference 25 years has made for some of us!

Although the idea of a Pig Roast sounded too casual to some, Summer Breeze Golf Course and Season's Restaurant did a wonderful job at creating the perfect atmosphere for our reunion. The committee received many compliments on the setting, and several requests for our 30th to be held at the same place. Our dinner was buffet-style, and Bonnie and Gale VanSickle did an excellent job providing the meat for our meal. Music was provided by Dee, and she played all of 'the oldies' throughout the evening.

Stacey led a short program after the meal, including an awards presentation for those attending (see the 'Reunion Awards' page on this site). Following the awards, she thanked all of those attending, gave a brief speech acknowleding the committee for all of their hard work, and then officially announced her 'retirement' as Class President, passing the duties on to Tammy. THANKS, STACEY, FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK AND A GREAT 25 YEARS!!

Most of those attending were still there at midnight and hated to say goodbye when the evening came to an end. The night went by so fast! Hopefully you'll be able to attend our next reunion to join in the fun!

Not planning on attending any of our reunions?
Why not? It's a chance to reconnect with friends that 'knew us when'...
Well, if you're not joining us, you'll need a good excuse, and a note from your mom, your oldest child or grandchild!! The following excuses are totally unacceptable...

"I'm overweight."
You are NOT alone...please note that waist sizes are not requested!!

"I'm a different person than I was in high school."
Luckily, we ALL are. (Let's face it, we could only have improved!)

"No one will recognize me."
Guess what? Chances are you won't recognize anyone else, either...that's why we wear nametags!

"I'm not rich and famous."
Thankfully we've all matured! We may be plump and wrinkled, bald or gray-haired, but we're not kids anymore...and money is not success!!"

SO...FORGET THE EXCUSES AND PLAN ON JOINING US IN 2007 FOR OUR 30 YEAR!!

YOU'LL HAVE A GREAT TIME AND BE GLAD YOU CAME!!
